Do you have a Youtube Channel? You probably think, because you don’t produce videos (digital media), there’s no point haveing a Youtube channel.

Well, actually it doesn’t matter if you don’t produce videos. You can still have a Youtube channel and join this social networking community.

So how can you be a part of the social media fraternity?

You’re probably  hearing a lot about new buzz words relating to social networks. One of those buzz words is social media.

What is social media?
Social media is part of Web 2.0 (user interactivity and communication). Media in the social media context relates to:

  • Podcasting – Audio recordings broadcast on the internet similar to a radio station.
  • Videocasting – Videos providing a visual medium broadcast on the internet similar to a television station

The social side of social media is sharing audio and videos on the internet and allowing viewers to interact or have their say by means of commenting. Your comments on a blog site or social media website add to the social networking experience which may convey:

  • your views on the subject
  • your experiences relating to the subject
  • expressing your humor in reference to the subject
  • ideas you have, inspired by the subject
  • ask questions to clarify a point on the subject
  • or simply say thank you for the information you were looking for

The person who produced the digital media will look at your comments and get ideas on what they can produce next.  This will enable them to produce  more informative videos for the viewers. It will also build relationships between the producer and the viewer.

Youtube uses social media. This means that anyone who produces video content can create videos and share them with viewers all around the world. The videos could be subjects on:

  • using software
  • fixing computers
  • how to make things
  • how to put on makeup
  • and more

How Can You have A Youtube Channel If You Don’t Produce Videos?
Well you don’t need to produce your own videos to have a Youtube channel. By getting your own Youtube channel you have the privilege to:

  • interact and communicate with those who do produce video content
  • Add Comments to videos
  • Ask questions on particular topics
  • Share the videos you love the most by creating a playlist

Help Others Find Videos By Creating Youtube Playlists
Have you ever searched on Youtube for a particular subject and found there are 100′s if not 1,000′s of videos listed?

You search through Youtube for videos that relate to the subject your looking for. As you continue searching, you find a few videos that are exactly what you wanted. But, you don’t think to record, bookmark or document the videos you found. So if you want to find those videos again, you have to search through all the Youtube videos.

By creating Youtube playlists, you are helping, not just yourself, but other people who are looking for the same videos. You will then have viewers of your playlists asking if you can help them find videos relating to other subjects. They do this by adding comments on your Youtube channel.

How Do You Get A Youtube Channel?
Google provides a lot of free services. By having a Google account you have access to:

You notice Youtube is one of Google’s services. If you have a Google account you are set to create a Youtube channel. Here are the following steps to setup a Youtube channel:

This has just made me realise that I need a YouTube account! I don’t have any videos to put up and that is why I have never signed up for one for my website, but being able to comment, make a playlist etc. has made me take the plunge.

    Thanks,
    Simon Duck

  2. Thanks Simon Duck for your comment. Yes you can comment and create playlists if you have a Youtube account. Most people can make videos with their mobile phones and webcams. Once you get adventurous, you may consider making your own videos in a vlog (video blogging) on Youtube.

  3. There are some attention-grabbing cut-off dates in this article but I don’t know if I see all of them heart to heart. There may be some validity but I will take hold opinion till I look into it further. Good article , thanks and we would like extra! Added to FeedBurner as effectively repliche borse
