How To Start A Blog

Have you ever surfed the internet, searching for a subject that you feel is important. After searching the internet for hours, or may be a day or two, you may end up saying ‘If only someone would provide some decent, relevant information about this subject!

The reason why there may not be so much information on the subject you’re searching for, is because, not many people know enough about the subject.

Or you may find after doing a lot of searching, that you can see a different perspective on the subject that no one else has considered or talked about.

In a previous article I explained what is blogging, blogger and blog.

What I’m suggesting is that you start writing your own blog. You can write about what you have found and how it’s relevant to the subject that you and probably others are looking for.
You may feel that you don’t know enough about the subject to write about it. That doesn’t matter. If you are searching about the subject, and you document what you have found. You are actually learning and able to share what you have learned.

By documenting or writing on your blog what you have learned, you can refer back to your blog when you’ve forget about certain things. You could say your blog is an extension of your mind. You can’t remember everthing and it would be so helpful if you could store that information on a blog.

By starting your own blog, you can:

  • share what you have learned
  • help others learn about the subject
  • write about information that isn’t being discussed on the internet
  • show your blog visitors where to go on the internet for certain information
  • help in aswering questions your blog visitors may ask

Social Networking
Social networking is part of Web 2.0. Basically Web 2.0 is social networking which refers to interactivity. Interactivity means you and other peopl are able to interact or communicate with each other using tools such as comments on a blog.

There are a lot of blog sites on the internet that are:

  • parroting or repeating what has already been written on other blogs
  • exposed as lacking knowledge on the subject being discussed
  • just a diary or what a person is doing
  • or to put it bluntly, it’s just boring

That is part of the reason why I started this blog site, to help you:

  • learn how to use social networking and digital media to help others learn
  • find the right information
  • by encouraging you to start your own blog
  • share the knowledge, skills and experience you have
  • add decent and informative content to the internet mix
  • share your perspective or take on things

How to start a blog
Starting a blog may seem daunting. But you will find that the technical sideof blogging is similar to using social networking websites, like Facebook, Twitter, Stumbleupon etc.

I would suggest you use the free blogging website Blogger, so you can learn:

  • how to maintain a blog site
  • how to post blogs
  • how to interact with your visitors using comments
  • if you choose, making money on your blog

Here is a video I produced explaing how to start a blog on Blogger. You can also watch the HD (1280 x 720) version on Youtube.
