Social Networking – Chase The Sun – Jan Rynsaardt Guitarist
I was looking through some footage we shot back in 2004 for our community television program Fandangle. One of the musicians, who I thought played amazing guitar was Jan Rynsaardt. We have seen him perform with the band Chase The Sun in Canberra (Australia) at the Old Canberra Inn and a couple weeks ago in Sydney (Australia) at the Coogee Diggers RSL. He has matured as a musician and his lead guitar style is outstanding.
Back in 2004, Jan was in a band called, oddly enough, Rynsaardt. Now in 2011, after looking at the footage of Rynsaardt, I felt it would be a shame to leave it in a box gathering dust. As a historical record of Jan Rynsaardt’s talent I decided to put it on Youtube.
This footage was taken in 2004. Jan has now moved on and is now a member of a very popular Australian band called Chase The Sun.

Musicians Use Social Networking
Chase The Sun, is doing what I encourage all bands to do. Use social networking to:
- promote your music
- feed your fans with news and events
- interact with your fans
- show the world what you can do
- attract record deals
Chase The Sun is using social networking to promote their band by providing information and entertainment for their fans. They are aware of the magnetic power of attraction that social networking on the internet provides.
Here are some examples:
Chase The Sun website
Chase The Sun Youtube channel
Chase The Sun on Facebook
Chase The Sun on MySpace
Chase The Sun on Twitter
This band is out there chasing the sun so to speak, as they do gig after gig after gig.
Chase The Sun plays a lot of gigs at:
- hotels
- clubs
- music festivals
The are getting promotion before and after their gigs through several sources.
They get a lot of publicity from:
- newspapers
- music festival program guides
- news websites
- gig guides on the internet
- articles written about them on fans blog-sites such as this one
I hear people talking about Chase The Sun all the time. I put a message up on Facebook telling my friends about the video I took of Jan Rynsaardt back in 2004. My stepson Ryan who is living in Holland replied and said:
“I remember that video you did of Rynsaardt, and I periodically try to find videos of him on youtube but there’s nothing close to the quality that you did of him. You should definitely upload it”
Jan Rynsaardt has teamed up with Chase The Sun and their popularity has grown because of their passion for music and using social networking.
I remember when I was a teenager in the 70′s, all my peers talked about was bands and their music. Well… we did talk about girls of course. But we all talked about bands and their music. But today, all teenagers talk about is Youtube, Facebook, ipods, ipads and the internet. So why not use Youtube, Facebook and all the other social networking websites on the internet to promote your band.
